Questions about the final cleaning
of the apartment
Usually,
the apartment or house must be returned in perfectly clean
condition.
This includes a thorough cleaning
of :
a. the windows
b.
the kitchen (note: when you de-frost the refrigerator
please do not turn it off and close the door - it will
very soon start to smell), if there are burnt on marks
on the hotplates the "Backofenspray K2" from
the KD drugstore will probably help (leave it to work
for 1-2 days)
c. the
bathroom
Munich has by far the best water quality of any German
city (it comes directly from the Mangfalltal and Loisachtal
springs in the lower alps and is untreated), but it is
very hard and very soon leaves a limescale deposit, which
after a while is very difficult to remove. The best way
to avoid damage is regular cleaning. Agressive cleaning
agents can damage the bathroom fittings.
d. carpeting
if stains have been caused during the tenancy you will
need to clean the carpet with a special machine. The Do-It-Yourself
version however can often do more damage than good. So
called stain removers should not be used. We will gladly
recommend a professional carpet cleaning service.
e.
wooden flooring
these floors should only be cleaned with special Parquet
cleaning agents. It is especially important to check if
it is solid wood or pre-made parquet flooring.
f.
cleaning upholstery (sofas & armchairs):
here you should also avoid causing further damage by having
them professionally cleaned.
g.
curtains
if they need to be cleaned, it is usually best to have
them dry cleaned.
h.
bedlinen
usually you will move into an apartment with freshly washed
and ironed bedlinen and it should be returned in the same
condition.
i. cupboards
all cupboards and drawers must be cleaned.
j. balcony
/ patio
clean the balcony/ patio
