Take a refreshing swim in one of Munich's many lakes
Ammersee
Ammersee
Ammersee The Ammersee is, at 47 km², the third largest lake in Bavaria and belongs, along with Starnberger Lake, Wörthsee, Pilsensee and Weßlinger Lake to the area known as the "Fünfseenlandschaft" - the Five Lake Country. Because of the continual silting process which has caused the lake to shrink to a quater of it's original size over the last 20.000 years, the countryside around the lake has an abundance of bird species, some of which are threatened. The Ammersee offers along it's 42km of coastline -with very few buildings, - something for everyone - i.e. bathers, sailers, surfers and hikers. A particular treat is the "holy mountain" of Andechs with it's numerous bavarian relics and speciality beers. Size / Water quality 47 km² good water quality
